Studio Practice

The Studio Archive

Operating from a dedicated north-light workspace, the practice investigates surface tension across unprimed Belgian linen through slow reduction and hand-formulated mineral suspensions.

Material Formulation

Pigment, Oil, and Surface

Every support begins with raw, unbleached linen stretched to custom tension bars. Rather than sealing the weave beneath commercial primers, the open fabric absorbs hand-ground dry earth and cold-pressed walnut oil directly into its structural fibers, preserving the tactile rhythm of the loom.

The resulting paint film maintains absolute matte absorption, rejecting reflective synthetic varnishes. Compositions unfold through deliberate structural layers, where geometric weight and raw borders negotiate spatial equilibrium until the picture plane reaches quiet optical stillness.

Pictorial Balance

The composition resolves when surface tension overtakes gesture, leaving only the weight of raw pigment suspended in light.
